Our Story
Bayou Barkery was founded in 2024 by Jessica Benoit Berger, a woman inspired by the rich culture of both Louisiana and Texas. Originally from New Orleans, LA, Jessica’s journey took her to Richmond, Virginia, for a corporate career, but her heart always longed for the South. She and her family found their way back, settling in Montgomery County, Texas, where their love for animals and a passion for healthy pet care took root.
Inspired by Our Pets
Jessica’s love for animals goes beyond ownership—her family has opened their hearts and home to rescues and rehomes. Their three pets, Juniper, Zeke, and Sadie, each came from challenging backgrounds, but their resilience is a constant source of inspiration. From a cruelty case to neglect, their stories became the foundation of Bayou Barkery’s mission: to offer pets the care they deserve through wholesome, nutritious treats.
When Jessica noticed her pets suffering from sensitivities and digestive issues due to their food, she sought better alternatives. This journey into natural pet care aligned with a major life change—being laid off from her corporate job. Instead of giving up, she followed her passion and turned it into a mission: creating organic, natural pet treats that improve the lives of pets everywhere. And so, Bayou Barkery was born.
